"Story and a Meal"

For the past few months I have been trying to implement "Story and a Meal." All I do is make a meal with my two little helpers and have the meal revolve around a story. The kids seem to LOVE it!!! I just do it once a week but I think I am going to try to squeeze it in more often, Here are a few of some memorable ones.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the moral of this story and it was fun trying to convince my son to help so that he could eat the bread in the end;)

My mother in law bought this book for my daughter around Valentine's Day so of course we found a meal for this story.

This one is obviously a shoe in for "Story and a Meal." Funny thing is that my daughter refused to eat the green eggs for the longest time, just like the book. Yet at the very last minute she tried them and guess what? She loved them SAM I AM!!!

Also, if I don't have the book I usually can find something online for them to watch.

  2. Our school's 1st grade teachers do "Book Cook" each year. Each student (and their parent) chose a book that at least mentions food in it and builds a presentation around that. The child needs to be able to read the book pretty much on his/her own and you bring in the ingredients to make the featured food. It always turns out fun and can be very simple or very extravagant. Today's post made me think of that.
